Ogliastra, with the beauty of its coastline and mountainous interior, it's a fairly recent discovery between destinations Sardinian tourist areas. Its territory enclosed between the sea and the mountain offers an endless quantity of unique scenarios of its kind.
A paradise of remarkable beauty situated along the eastern side of Sardinia, where nature is at its best.
The origin of its name apparently derives from Olivastri of which is rich the land, although others attribute the origin huge monolith overlooking the sea on the coast of Baunei called Agugliastra (or Pedra Longa).
The Ogliastra coasts are splendid oases set between sea and rock, and its form one of the most enchanting Mediterranean environments. Starting from the north we meet the coves accessible only by sea or on foot, between the more suggestive beaches of Ogliastra and graced by renowned Cala Luna, Cala Sisine, Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritz moving on to the south there are the beautiful beaches as Tancau, Girasole beach, Orrì, Cea, Marina di Barisardo and Cardedu, Coccorrocci and the Gulf of Sarrala.
The other charm is the nature, an unspoilt nature that gradually changing, up to the hills to get to the mountains Gennargentu, indulging the eyes with very varied landscapes and rare beauty. A land that requires a careful look, curious, penetrating mismatch to the look of the conventional tourist. From a historical and archaeological point of view worthy of attention is throughout the territory with the presence of many Nuraghi, Domus de Janas, holy sources, Tombs of the Giants and Menhir.
On foot, by bike, on horseback, by car and off-road you can go through trekking routes to discover places that will not be easily forgotten.
If you want to go by the sea the boats will take you to discover the beautiful coast of Ogliastra.
Only the combination of sights, smells and atmospheres can fully describe the magic and harmony of this land.
You can not say you've really visited our island if you do not spend at least a few days in Ogliastra.
